The Grill in Tampere is a popular restaurant and it has a good reputation. Location in Frenckelinaukio near by Tammerkoski and old Finlayson factory is beautiful. We made a table reservation already weeks ago because we went there with a big group. We had our reservation at 6pm and restaurant was already full of people. Right after us the waitresses had to say “sorry, but we are fully booked” to people who tried to come in without reservation. The restaurant is nice and stylish but it is quite noisy because of its wide space . They didn’t have any kind of backround music, the customers´ talk and laugh was enough.
We were lucky to get the greatest waiter of the restaurant. The man was very friendly and humoristic! He was able to tell us about the menu and how they cook the food. He took very good care of our group.
As a starter we took escargot in garlic and parsley butter. On top there was melted cheese. It was served with grilled focaccia bread (Caracoles con Ajo, 10,60€).
And for the other starter grilled garlic bread skewers and green salad on the side (Pinchos de Pane, 7,60€).
As an entrée we had a grilled Australian Black Angus sirloin steak (200g 29,90€). They advertise that food is made with a genuine Weber charcoal grill. Quality of the beef was excellent and it was made “medium” just as we ordered it.
The other entrée was Pollo Chimichurri (18,90€). It is chicken breast filet gratinated with parmesan and chimichurri sauce served with red wine sauce. The portion looked nice, it was big and very tasty. We selected salad as a side order which was a good choise. Potatoes would have been too much.
As many people who likes sugar and sweets also we have “another stomach” for dessert. No matter how much we have eaten and how full we are, there is always some more space for dessert. Creme brulee (8,90€) was warm and cruncy on the top hiding inside soft and cold creme. Served with ice-cream and strawberry. And on the side espressos.
